Travel Money need not be an expense with our 2012 Travel Guide
Travel money, like every other kind of money, is precious indeed at any point in the year and especially when the country’s economic prospects are spending so much of their time under cloudy skies. With that in mind it might be nice to know that there are still plenty of great places you can visit without breaking the bank this autumn.
Figures collected on behalf of the financial services and travel money provider M&S Money show that city breaks in destinations around Europe and the world are still accessible at competitive prices. Indeed, in the case of the Turkish city of Istanbul, you are likely to need considerably less travel money this year than if you had taken a trip there 12 months ago.
Meanwhile, the typical cost of a city break in the Czech capital Prague has increased by just 0.9 percent between November 2010 and November 2011 and so could help you get more from you travel money. The costs of visiting Dublin, Paris and Nice, among other, also remain highly competitive for Britons partly because of the relatively close proximity to our shores, according to M&S Money’s latest data.
Overall, the prices associated with taking a city break this autumn as a British couple have held considerably below inflation during the past 12 months. Another excuse, if one were needed, to find room in your personal finances for a trip to somewhere new.
Of course, it is always important to shop around for a particularly competitive holiday deal and for a good price on your travel money once your trip has been booked. “Autumn is always a popular time for city breaks and right now, there are some great value destinations to take advantage of, thanks to lower inflation and favourable exchange rates,” said Paul Stokes, head of travel money at M&S Money.
“To get the best possible value it’s important to plan in advance – remember it’s not just the cost of your holiday that will effect your budget, the rate you get on your travel money can have a big impact on how much money you have to spend when you get there,” he added.
